The electrician of Mykolaiv Gymnasium No. 43 appeared before the Korablenyi District Court of Mykolaiv after attacking a man with a metal chain. The victim sustained minor bodily injuries, and the defendant fully admitted his guilt and asked to be fined.

As stated in the verdict of the Korablenyi District Court of Mykolaiv in the case No. 488/3354/26, the incident occurred on 30 May 2026 at approximately 16:00 near house No. 190 on Torgova Street.

According to the case materials, the man, who works as an electrician at Mykolaiv Gymnasium No. 43, approached the victim from behind and deliberately struck him at least once with a metal chain in the area of the right ear.

The court noted in the verdict that as a result of the attack the victim was found to have an abrasion on the left side of the upper lip, hemorrhages on the lateral surfaces of the tongue, as well as focal hemorrhages of the mucous membranes of the upper and lower lips. Each of these injuries was classified by experts as minor bodily injuries.

The criminal proceeding was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under No. 12026153050000035. The man’s actions were qualified under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional minor bodily injury.

The prosecutor asked the court to consider the misdemeanor in a simplified procedure – without holding a court hearing and without the parties’ participation.

The defendant, whose interests were represented by a lawyer, unconditionally admitted his guilt. He confirmed that he agreed with the circumstances established during the pre-trial investigation, did not contest them, and understood the consequences of the case being considered without his participation.

The man also himself asked the court to impose a fine as his punishment.

The victim, for his part, confirmed in writing that he agreed with the circumstances established by the investigation and did not object to the simplified consideration of the case without his being summoned to court.

When determining the punishment, the court took into account that the man had no prior convictions, was married, had a secondary vocational education, was employed, and was not registered with a narcologist or psychiatrist. He was described as having an average reputation at his place of residence.

The court considered full admission of guilt, sincere remorse, active assistance in solving the criminal offense, the absence of serious consequences, and the absence of material claims from the victim as mitigating circumstances.

The court did not find any circumstances that would aggravate the punishment. No civil claim was filed in the case, and there were no court costs.

As a result of the case consideration, on 3 July 2026 the Korablenyi District Court of Mykolaiv found the electrician guilty of committing a criminal misdemeanor under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

He was sentenced to a fine of 50 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens – 850 hryvnias payable to the state.

The metal chain with a lock, which after the incident was kept in the property evidence locker of Police Department No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, that is, the police department of the Korablenyi district of Mykolaiv, was ordered by the court to be destroyed.

The verdict may be appealed to the Mykolaiv Court of Appeal within 30 days from the day of receiving its copy, taking into account the restrictions provided for simplified proceedings.
