Survived a hunt by an FPV drone in Kherson: Russian propagandists threaten a man from Mykolaiv region

In Kherson a Russian FPV drone deliberately pursued a civilian man who was selling at a market and exploded near him. The video of the attack on 4 August 2026 was released by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to law enforcement, the victim turned out to be a 52-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region. The man sustained blast injuries, a concussion and shrapnel wounds. He survived; medics are providing him with necessary care. The police emphasized that the man in the video showed no signs of being a combatant and was simply selling at the market. Law enforcement is documenting the attack as another war crime by the Russian army against the civilian population.

After the video was released, the Russian Telegram channel “От Мариуполя до Карпат” began to justify the attack. Its authors, without any evidence, claimed that the seller’s vehicle was used to transport military cargo and that the man was allegedly linked to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the end of the post the propagandists wrote: “We continue. The pig is alive” (translation from Russian). Media outlets interpreted these words as a threat to attack the man again. At the same time, the message itself did not indicate a specific time or method of a possible new attack.

As SVTV News reported, the video was initially circulated by a Russian source. The channel’s authors provided no evidence for their accusations against the seller. According to “ASTRA” and “Vazhnyye istorii”, the channel is linked to the unmanned systems unit “Eskadron” of the 18th Combined Arms Army of the RF. This resource regularly publishes videos of Russian strikes on civilians, cars, shops and markets in Kherson.

Throughout June 2026, media reported the deaths of at least three Russian servicemen associated with this formation. Among them was one of the channel’s administrators. At the same time, the names of all the deceased and the circumstances of their deaths were not officially disclosed.

This same Telegram channel in May 2026 published, and later deleted, videos of Russian FPV drone strikes on vehicles of a UN humanitarian mission in Kherson. The vehicles bore UN markings. The United Nations confirmed that its marked vehicle sustained two strikes while delivering aid to residents of the Ostriv neighborhood.

The National Police urged people who noticed a drone not to try to film it, but to immediately seek shelter. Law enforcement emphasized that no footage is worth a human life or health.
