In Mykolaiv, one of the largest stages of reforming the municipal health care system has been completed.

From 1 August, the city has three specialized medical institutions in operation: City Hospital No. 3, City Hospital No. 4 and City Hospital No. 5.

City Hospital No. 4 now includes three branches:

  • City Hospital No. 1;
  • Children’s City Hospital No. 2;
  • Emergency Medical Care Hospital.

During the administrative meeting on 4 August, the head of the Health Department of Mykolaiv City Council, Iryna Shamray, reported that all employees have been successfully transferred to the new structure. This concerns more than 1,500 employees, who were re-registered in all state registers and information systems in a record short time.

“Work that probably has never been done on such a scale was completed in two days. All managers have been employed, all employees have been transferred. This was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of the municipal property management, the Department for Administrative Services, the Pension Fund and all the services that were involved in this process,” — noted Iryna Shamray.

The next stage of the reorganization is signing contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU). The new structure provides for 2,304 staff positions, and medical workers are being transferred to the electronic health care system in accordance with the updated structure.

The reorganization is intended to ensure the hospitals comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and to expand opportunities to sign contracts with the NHSU for a greater number of medical service packages with higher funding.
