Over refusing to lend money: in Mykolaiv, a man will stand trial for stabbing an acquaintance
The investigation has been completed, and the indictment has been sent to the court
May 13 on the premises of an auto-garage cooperative in one of the neighborhoods of Mykolaiv, during an argument a man, according to investigators, inflicted numerous stab wounds on an acquaintance and fled the scene. The victim was wounded in the chest and back.
Investigators of Division No. 1 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department established that the men were in the victim’s garage. The cause of the conflict was the victim’s refusal to lend money to the suspect.
Police quickly located the 53-year-old man, detained him in the course of proceedings and notified him of suspicion under part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional serious bodily injury.
Investigators completed the pre-trial investigation and sent the indictment to the District Prosecutor’s Office of the city of Mykolaiv. The prosecutor’s office referred it to the court for consideration on the merits.
The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison for the committed offense.
According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
