During the occupation of the Mykolaiv region, two Russian servicemen committed sexual violence against a woman

During the occupation of one of the settlements in the Bashtanskyi district, two servicemen of the Russian Federation (RF), according to the investigation, committed sexual violence against a local resident. One of them also seized the victim’s husband’s car.
Law enforcement established that at the end of October 2022 a 26-year-old commander applied psychological pressure and committed sexual violence against the woman.
At the same time, a 42-year-old serviceman, in prior collusion with two other unidentified servicemen of the Russian Federation (RF), entered the victim’s husband’s garage and took his car.
In November 2022 the 42-year-old occupier, according to investigation materials, committed sexual violence against the same woman.
The identified servicemen at the time of the crimes held the positions of commander and serviceman of the deep reconnaissance platoon of military unit 74814 as part of the 205th Separate Motor Rifle Brigade, 49th Combined Arms Army, Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Both servicemen were notified in absentia of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The elder of them is also charged with cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
For committing these crimes, up to 12 years of imprisonment is provided. The pre-trial investigation continues. In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until their guilt has been proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
