An Odesa court placed a man under 60 days' house arrest for killing a cat after it fell from the sixth floor

In the Khadzhibeyskyi district of Odesa the court placed under 24-hour house arrest for 60 days a 39-year-old man suspected of the brutal killing of his own cat after an incident that took place on 20 July near his home.

According to the regional police, the man saw his pet fall from the window of the 6th floor, after which he picked up the cat and began beating it against the wall of the apartment building, which led to the animal’s death. Source: regional police.

After the cat died, the owner threw its body into a trash bin, law enforcement also report.

The court, having considered the investigation’s motion, chose for the suspect a preventive measure in the form of 24-hour house arrest for 60 days.

The police emphasize that for cruel treatment of a vertebrate animal that resulted in its death, the suspect may face up to 8 years of imprisonment.
