Another 260 medicines were added to "Available Medicines": 173 can be obtained free of charge
Another 87 — with a small surcharge
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine has expanded the reimbursement program “Affordable Medicines”, adding another 260 brand names of medicinal products for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
This was 20 July 2026 reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.
Of the new medicines, 173 can be obtained by patients free of charge, and another 87 — with a partial co-payment. Doctors can already issue electronic prescriptions for these medicinal products.
The updated list includes drugs for blood pressure control, prevention of heart attacks and strokes, treatment of chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease and cardiac rhythm disorders.
This time, for the first time, a separate support mechanism for medicines of Ukrainian production was applied. If a domestically produced drug meets the established requirements and has the lowest price, it may receive priority when being included in the reimbursement program.
Under this mechanism, the program has already included 67 single-component and 35 combined medicinal products of Ukrainian production.
The city council noted that this is the largest expansion of the reimbursement program in the area of cardiovascular disease treatment and already the second since the beginning of 2026.
Since the start of the “Affordable Medicines” program in 2019, it has been used by more than 6.43 million Ukrainians. As of July 2026, the program covers 1038 medicinal products, which can be obtained in 17 470 pharmacies across Ukraine.
