In the Odesa region, an officer pawned drones at a pawnshop. He bought a Lexus for $27,000
According to the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), he gambled away part of the money he received; the indictment has already been submitted to the court
In the Odesa region, investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed the pre-trial investigation into the head of one of the subunits of a military unit, who is accused of appropriating and selling defense property; the indictment has been sent to court.
According to investigators, the serviceman was responsible for operating unmanned aerial systems and means of countering enemy UAVs and, abusing his position, took property from the warehouse intended for the defense needs of the Southern region.
Investigators established that the accused seized reconnaissance drones and equipment for combating enemy drones.
He pawned part of the stolen equipment and sold the rest at reduced prices.
The proceeds, according to the prosecution, were spent by the serviceman on purchasing a Lexus car worth $27,000, and part was lost gambling.
The damage to the state, according to investigators’ calculations, amounts to over 6.2 million hryvnias.
The accused has been suspended from his post. The charges include theft of military property by abusing official position during martial law, appropriation and embezzlement of property, and legalization of proceeds obtained by criminal means. If found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
At the same time, pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict.
