Over two months, the control service staff of the municipal enterprise КП “Mykolaiv Electrotrans” identified in city trams and trolleybuses 363 cases of fare evasion. The company reminded passengers of payment rules and the procedures inspectors follow during checks.

This was, on July 20, 2026, reported by the press service of «Mykolaiv Electrotrans».

Passengers must pay their fare immediately after boarding. A ticket can be purchased from the driver, at a stationary sales point, or via a single QR code. A malfunction of one payment method does not entitle a passenger to ride for free, since a paper ticket can be bought from the driver.

A paper ticket purchased in advance or directly from the driver must be validated immediately. Only after validation is it considered valid and confirms payment of the fare.

If a passenger does not have a valid ticket during an inspection, the inspector offers to purchase a special inspector ticket on the spot. It costs 300 hryvnias, payable in cash or by bank card.

In case of refusal, the inspector has the right to call the National Police or security personnel. Law enforcement officers can draw up administrative materials for fare evasion in accordance with Article 135 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

Mykolaiv Electrotrans also explained that funds from the sale of inspector tickets go directly to the enterprise, not to an insurance company. Each such ticket has a separate serial number, and after the end of the shift inspectors report the sold forms and the received money.

The information about the insurance company shown on the tickets is related to mandatory passenger insurance and the requirements for the form of the travel document.

Concessionary categories of citizens may use trams and trolleybuses free of charge, but during the trip they must have the original document proving the right to the benefit.

It was previously reported that since the launch of the new control system, as of June 10, 2026, only 68 fareless passengers were detected in Mykolaiv. Now the number of recorded cases has risen to 363.
