Fire engulfed more than 19 hectares: 28 fires broke out in the Mykolaiv region over 24 hours
Four fires were caused by Russian shelling, and more than 100 rescuers and 32 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires
During July 17 and the night into July 18, 2026, 28 fires occurred in Mykolaiv Oblast.
According to rescuers, four fires were caused by Russian shelling in Mykolaiv and Voznesensk districts. The fire destroyed dry vegetation, shelterbelts and wheat crops.
Another large fire occurred in the Volodymyrivka community of Bashtanka district. There, 5 hectares of wheat, 4 hectares of post‑harvest residues and a shelterbelt burned. The cause of this fire is being determined.
Most often units of the State Emergency Service responded to fires of dry vegetation, shrubs and debris. In total, 23 incidents were recorded in open areas, and the area affected by fire exceeded 19 hectares.
Two fires occurred in the private sector: in Voznesensk district and in Mykolaiv, where outbuildings and dry grass burned.
More than 100 rescuers and 32 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fires. Local fire teams “Martynivka” and “Pokrovka” and the fire‑rescue units “Kobleve” and “Rybakivka” also worked. The causes of the fires are being determined.
