In Mykolaiv, at dawn the homeowner himself detained a mysterious stranger who was a repeat offender

In Mykolaiv the homeowner caught and locked a woman inside the premises, who, according to the investigation, had entered his residence and attempted to steal foreign currency. This was reported on July 16 2026 by the police Mykolaiv region.

In the morning of July 14 the man called law enforcement and reported that he had found a stranger in the house. Before the police arrived he locked her inside. Officers established that the 31-year-old resident of the Voznesensk district was temporarily renting accommodation in Mykolaiv. According to the investigation, at dawn she entered the territory of the private property, found a hiding place and took a envelope with foreign currency. After that the woman slipped into another room, where the owner saw her.

Police seized the money, a flashlight, sets of keys and other material evidence. The detainee had previously served a sentence for property crimes. The woman was informed of suspicion of attempted theft committed under martial law. She faces up to eight years imprisonment. Law enforcement is also checking her involvement in two more similar crimes in Mykolaiv. The pre-trial investigation continues.
