Lavender field 15 minutes from Korabelnyi: photo sessions turned into a fundraiser for the military
For a voluntary donation; the funds are being collected for the 66th Brigade
Not far from the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv, in the Halytsynivska community, a lavender field has been opened to visitors. Here you can relax and arrange a photoshoot, and instead of a fixed fee leave a voluntary donation for the needs of the Ukrainian military.
About the new location, which can be reached from the Korabelnyi district by car in approximately 10-15 minutes, shared local resident Svitlana Z. in one of her posts:
“I want to share some really great news. We have a lavender field in Mykolaiv. It is located not far from the Korabelnyi district, literally about 10-15 minutes by car. So, if anyone was planning a really great photoshoot, they can organize it here. Entry is free for donations… I think it’s really great, and it’s close to us”.
The lavender estate was created by local resident Natalia Poyarkova. About 3 thousand bushes of lavender grow on her land, which mainly bloom in June and July. Visitors from Mykolaiv, the Kherson region and other areas now come here to take photographs among the purple flowers.
The owner planted the lavender in 2024 in memory of her husband, who was killed at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. Her idea was not only to create a photo location, but also a place where people exhausted by the war could at least briefly recover.
Talking about the idea of the lavender estate to Suspilne, Natalia Poyarkova emphasized that she sought to create a special space for the community:
“My goal was to create a place of strength in the community. Where people would come to restore their mental health. We have only just started collecting money; a couple of days ago we announced this pilot project. Behind me you can see people from Nova Kakhovka, from Kherson Oblast, from the city of Mykolaiv”.
There is no fixed entrance fee to the estate — visitors determine the amount of their donation themselves. The collected funds are directed to help the Ukrainian military.
In particular, the community is raising 168 thousand hryvnias for the servicemen of the 66th brigade. With these funds they plan to purchase 14 digital systems, each of which costs about 12 thousand hryvnias and is intended to increase the effectiveness of Ukrainian drones. Local activists and the public organization “Luparivski Initiatives” are joining the fundraising.
After the season ends, they do not plan to discard the harvested lavender: the owner wants to process the flowers into cosmetic products. Also, in the future they plan to arrange new themed photo locations on the estate’s grounds.
