Ukraine has begun testing laser air-defense systems, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said during the Defense Tech event Brave1 Advantage.
RBC-Ukraine, as part of the presentation of defense technologies, announced a transition to a new stage in air-defense development: alongside laser tests, the effectiveness of interceptor drones is increasing.
«We are already testing the laser and there are already certain results. For now we are not communicating much, but the direction is moving actively», — said Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov during the Defense Tech event Brave1 Advantage.
The laser component of air defense, according to the official, is one of the priority areas that Ukrainian developers and the military are currently working on, while project details are not being disclosed for security reasons.
Fedorov separately emphasized that interceptor drones are increasingly effective against targets in the sky, complementing other air-defense means.
