In the Korabelnyi District, a man took an unlocked Lexus and drove home
The suspect faces up to 12 years' imprisonment with confiscation of property
In the Korabelnyi District of Mykolaiv, police located a Lexus ES 300H that had been unlawfully taken by a 46-year-old local resident. He saw the unlocked car on Novobudivna Street, got behind the wheel and drove home.

A local resident reported the disappearance of the car on the evening of 28 June 2026 to Police Station No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department, which serves the Korabelnyi District.
According to the complainant, during the day she had an argument with her husband, after which the couple left the unlocked Lexus on Novobudivna Street. When the owners returned to collect the car, it was gone.
Employees of the local police station, criminal investigation officers and analysts from the Criminal Analysis Department were involved in the search. Law enforcement also reviewed footage from the “Safe City” camera system.
Within a day the police established the location of the Lexus and the identity of the man who took it. He turned out to be a 46-year-old Mykolaiv resident who had previously been held accountable for property crimes.
According to the police, the man was intoxicated. Passing by the car, he saw that it was unlocked, got in and drove home. He parked the Lexus near his house.
The man was detained and informed of suspicion under part 3 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — unlawful appropriation of a vehicle.
He faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. A court is expected to set a preventive measure for the suspect in the near future.
The vehicle was seized. After the necessary investigative and procedural actions are completed, it will be returned to the owners.
The pre-trial investigation continues.
