Near the Mykolaiv City Palace of Culture “Korablevnyi” in the Korablevnyi district of Mykolaiv there was a celebration again — familiar, dear, and very much needed by people after everything the district has endured during the years of the great war.

June 5 an end-of-season concert of amateur performances “Kaleidoscope of Talents” was held here. It took place outdoors — by the Palace of Culture, which for several generations of residents of the Korablevnyi district was not just a building, but a true center of creative life.

That day music once again filled the square, people smiled, applauded, supported the performers, and some did not hide their tears. Because these were not just performances. It was a return to memories of the times when the Palace of Culture “Korablevnyi” gathered hundreds of people, gave children a stage, creativity, victories, inspiration, and a sense of a large district family.

For a few hours the space near the Palace was alive again. There were children, parents, troupe leaders, audience members, familiar faces and that same atmosphere the Korablevnyi district missed so much: music, applause, pre-performance nerves, joy after the numbers and pride in their own.

And all this took place near the building that on July 5, 2022 Russian occupiers destroyed with a missile strike in the Korablevnyi district of Mykolaiv. After the strike the Palace of Culture, which before the full-scale war had been visited by more than 500 residents of all ages, could no longer operate fully. Later the institution partially resumed activities, but after the fire in January 2024 it had to be closed again.

The question of the future of the PC “Korablevnyi” has returned to the public space more than once. On the Korabelov.info site they already wrote that Italian partners provided a concept visualization for a new Palace building, and Mykolaiv residents were invited to a presentation of the project rethinking the use of its territory. In January 2026 the city council also said that they planned to dismantle the ruined part of the building by the end of the month.

But that day the main things were not projects, not demolition and not official promises. The main things were the people who came to their native Palace, and the children who once again took the stage — even if this time the stage was outdoors.

In the concert program the audience saw vocal numbers, choreography, sport-ballroom dances, aesthetic gymnastics and circus art. Each performance became a separate part of a large creative tapestry created by the ensemble participants and their leaders.

On the page of the MMPC “Korablevnyi” it was reported that the concert united different branches of creativity and gave the audience vivid emotions.

“The audience had the opportunity to enjoy a diverse concert program that combined vocals, choreography, sport-ballroom dances, aesthetic gymnastics and circus art.”

Throughout the concert the audience supported the performers with sincere applause. For the children it was an important performance and the culmination of a large amount of work, for the ensemble leaders — the result of persistent rehearsals, and for the district residents — another reminder that culture in Korabelny has not disappeared even after the Russian strikes and destructions.

The organizers thanked everyone who contributed to the celebration, as well as the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thanks to whom Ukrainians have the opportunity to live, create and gather at such events.

“We sincerely thank all participants, leaders of creative groups, parents, audience members and our unbreakable Armed Forces of Ukraine, thanks to whom we have the opportunity to live, create and give people art.”

For the Korablevnyi district this concert was not just an end-of-season reporting event. It was a symbol that the district remembers its Palace, awaits its revival and refuses to live only among ruins, silence and waiting.

For now the celebration took place outdoors — by the native but wounded building. Yet for a few hours the same atmosphere that residents of the Korablevnyi district remember well came back to life: children perform, parents worry and are proud, the audience applauds, and the Palace, even without a full stage, becomes a meeting place for people again.

Korablevnyi remembers.
Korablevnyi lives.
And it will surely await new celebrations in the revived Palace of Culture.
