In Mykolaiv region, the average level of pay was almost 26 thousand hryvnias, the State Statistics Service reports
While the region ranks among the top 10 in salaries, employees have already been underpaid by tens of millions of hryvnias
In Mykolaiv region in April 2026 the average level of pay amounted to almost 26 thousand hryvnias. At the same time the situation with debts to employees in the region worsened: the amount of unpaid wages rose to 60 million hryvnias. This was reported on 4 June 2026 by the regional statistics office.
According to statisticians, compared with March the average salary in the region decreased by 6.8%. Despite this, Mykolaiv region holds the ninth position among the regions of Ukraine by wage level.
However, high average figures do not eliminate the problem of non-payments. As of 1 May 2026 enterprises in the region owed employees 60 million hryvnias. Over the month this indicator increased by 30.5%. In the nationwide total of debts the share of Mykolaiv region is 1.6%.
The highest incomes in the region are recorded in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning. There the average salary approaches 50 thousand hryvnias. The lowest payments are received by workers in the arts, sports and recreation sector – just over 12 thousand hryvnias.
The main burden of the debt falls on several industries. Manufacturing has formed almost 51% of all wage arrears. Another roughly 38% falls on agriculture, forestry and fishing. Almost 11% of the debt is related to water supply and waste management. For comparison, in February 2026 the average salary in Mykolaiv region was almost 25 thousand hryvnias. That is, nominal pay rose over a few months, but the amount of arrears increased along with it.
In fact the statistics show two different realities. On one hand, the region remains in the top ten of regions by wage level. On the other – tens of millions of hryvnias have still not been received by workers. It is particularly telling that the largest debts are accumulating precisely in the sectors that are basic for the region – industry and the agricultural sector.
