Vodokanal says: "not our responsibility". Who will be responsible for the flooded stadium in Korabelnyi?
There is a problem, but no one is responsible: the water utility denied any involvement in the flooding of the field at Youth Sports School No. 5
The head of KP “Mykolaivvodokanal” said that the enterprise is not related to the flooding of the football pitch at the stadium of the Children and Youth Sports School No.5 in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv. Hennadiy Izyumov said this during a briefing on May 28 2026.
The flooding situation was discussed at a deputies’ committee of the Mykolaiv Regional Council. There they suggested that the problem could be related to discharges of water into the Vytovka River and expected a technical solution specifically from the water utility. In response, Hennadiy Izyumov stated that KP “Mykolaivvodokanal” is not involved in this situation. At the same time, he noted that the enterprise can help if it concerns emergency pumping of water. He explained that the water utility can only participate in emergency pumping, but is not responsible for bringing the river into order or arranging the storm drainage system:
“This does not concern the water utility. We provide assistance in cases of emergency pumping. If there is a need, we will come and do it. But any conclusions and works to bring the river into order and to arrange the storm drainage system – that is not our diocese”, – said Hennadiy Izyumov.
As is known, the football pitch at the stadium of CYSS No.5 in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv has been flooded for two months. Because of this, children are forced to train on a backup field, while the main pitch is effectively out of service.
The situation remains painful for the district, as it is not only a communal problem but also concerns conditions for youth sports. While officials and communal services determine the boundaries of responsibility, children in the Korabelnyi district continue to train away from their main field.
