Kyiv: a woman shot a man over a remark about noise — the man is in the hospital, she faces up to 7 years in prison
The female suspect was detained after fleeing; during a search a pistol and ammunition were seized, and a forensic examination has been ordered
In the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, a 43-year-old woman fired several shots at a 27-year-old man after he complained to her group about their loud behavior; the victim, with gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen, was hospitalized, police reported on May 18, 2026.
After the shooting the offender left the scene, but investigators quickly identified, located and detained her in Kyiv.
During a sanctioned search of the woman’s residence, investigators found and seized a pistol and ammunition; the weapon was sent for forensic examination to establish its origin and suitability for firing.
According to the investigation, the injured man sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen; he was given medical assistance and taken to hospital.
The detainee has been notified of suspicion under the Criminal Code article on hooliganism involving the use of a weapon, which provides for a penalty of up to 7 years in prison, the capital’s police reported.
