In Mykolaiv, 10 of the 40 evacuated dogs have found homes; volunteers removed two from chains
At volunteer Yana's shelter in the Kherson region there are already over 800 animals — many were evacuated from "red" zones and abandoned villages
In Mykolaiv on May 17 an exhibition of stray dogs was held, where they looked for owners for 40 animals; 10 four-legged animals received homes, reported Suspilne Mykolaiv.
The animals brought to participate included those previously evacuated from the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, as well as dogs from shelters and temporary holding; participants’ ages ranged from 3 months to 6 years.
The event organizer Lyudmyla clarified that the “Friends Nearby” team presented four of their wards.
“Two of them we took from Chornobaivka from Maria. And two more dogs were taken off tethers here on the spot — in the village of Kir’yakivka. We took them straight off the chains,” the event organizer Lyudmyla said.
Volunteer Yana reported that her shelter in the Kherson region houses more than 800 animals.
According to her, some dogs are born on the streets, some are abandoned by owners, and others are brought by the military from so-called red zones; in places of mass departures people leave behind villages with no residents, and animals have to be rescued and found homes.
