An ATV is not a toy: a 10-year-old driver hit and injured a man
A child was allowed to drive - an adult was injured: police are investigating who will be held responsible
In the village of Pidluby in Yavoriv district of Lviv region, the police are investigating a traffic accident involving an ATV driven by a 10-year-old boy. This was reported by the Lviv region police.
The accident occurred on 15 May 2026. According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a minor resident of the village of Pidluby was driving a Common Scorpion 200 ATV and struck a pedestrian. The victim turned out to be a 39-year-old local resident. After the accident, the man was hospitalized with bodily injuries.
Following the accident, investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules. The sanction of the article provides for up to three years of restriction of liberty with possible deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years.
Law enforcement are currently establishing all the circumstances of the incident. A separate question that the investigation must clarify – how a 10-year-old child ended up behind the wheel of the ATV.
