A court in Mykolaiv sentenced a lieutenant to five years for leaving his unit without authorization on the third day
A 34-year-old Odesa resident, commander of an engineer-sapper platoon, has fully admitted guilt under Part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine
The Central District Court of Mykolaiv handed down a verdict: a 34-year-old resident of Odesa, a lieutenant and commander of an engineering-sapper platoon, was convicted of evading military service — sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment.
According to the court, the officer was assigned to a position in one of the military units of the Mykolaiv region, but already after 3 days he unlawfully left the unit and subsequently did not report to another subdivision to which he had been transferred.
About 5 months later, the man voluntarily appeared at the investigative department of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations and admitted that he had been evading service.
During the trial, the accused fully admitted his guilt and repented, and the court, having examined the evidence, qualified his actions under part 5 of Art.407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine as unauthorized abandonment (desertion) of a military unit.
The punishment was set as imprisonment for a term of 5 years.
The proceedings were presided over by Judge Pavlo Charychansky.
The verdict was reported by the court press service; details were published on their Telegram channel.
