Children's town on Okeanivska Street has turned into a ruin: residents of the Korabelnyi District are pleading for order to be restored

A resident of the Korabelnyi district of the city of Mykolaiv Elena Fadeeva on May 6, 2026 contacted the Contact Center at the Mykolaiv City Council regarding the condition of the children’s playground at Okeanivska, 38.

The published photos show a neglected area: cracked surfacing, trash, weeds, old concrete structures with peeling paint, broken or outdated playground elements and an overall appearance that is hard to call safe for children’s recreation. In fact, instead of a tidy place to play near residential buildings, residents see a space that has long needed cleaning, repairs and proper upkeep. It looks especially cynical during the war, when there are already few safe places left for children to walk in frontline-adjacent Mykolaiv.

In her appeal to the city contact center Elena Fadeeva asked to bring the children’s playground to proper condition:

“Good day!!! This children’s playground at Okeanivska, 38. This is just awful!!! Please bring it into order!”

The Operational Response Service of the Contact Center at the Mykolaiv City Council reported that the request was registered under number 66487.

In the comments, user Troyanovich Anna reacted emotionally to the appearance of the children’s playground, comparing it to a zone of decay:

“Looks like Pripyat”

This is not the first time residents of the Korabelnyi district have drawn attention to the condition of children’s and sports playgrounds. People regularly complain about broken elements, weeds, trash and dangerous structures, while children continue to use these places. Now residents expect that the appeal under number 66487 will not remain just another formal registration, and that the children’s playground at Okeanivska, 38 will actually be brought into order.
