Mykolaiv region lags behind Ukraine in average wages and is drowning in arrears

Less money, more debt: the region's income situation is worsening again

In Mykolaiv Oblast the average nominal wage of regular employees of enterprises, institutions and organizations with a headcount of from 10 employees in February 2026 amounted to 24 751 UAH. According to the data of the regional statistics office, this is 12.6% less than the average for Ukraine, where the indicator reached 28 321 UAH. At the same time, on a monthly basis wages in the oblast fell by 1.4%, while on an annual basis they, conversely, grew by 21.3%.

  • Wage arrears as of 1 March 202643.4 mln UAH, which is 6.4% more than a month earlier.
  • Of this amount 55.8% falls on industry, 43.8% – on agriculture, and 46.5% of all arrears are concentrated in Mykolaiv district.
  • Some 719 employees were left without timely paid salaries, and the average arrears per person reached 60.4 thousand UAH.

In fact, the oblast received an alarming picture: salaries here are rising compared to last year, but still noticeably lag behind the national level, and accumulated arrears continue to put pressure on people. It is particularly telling that the most payment problems are again concentrated in the manufacturing sectors and in Mykolaiv district, which already faces numerous economic difficulties.
