Journalists “Slidstvo.Info” on March 26, 2026 reported, that the husband of former Deputy Minister of Energy Olga Yukhymchuk Denys Merzhuk sold a 2022 Tesla Model 3 for 820,000 hryvnias. Earlier the same car, according to the declaration, had been purchased for only 10,000 hryvnias, which sparked a new wave of questions about the origin of such a price. The first questions about this car appeared back in November 2025, when journalists noted that in the declaration for 2024 it was stated that Denys Merzhuk bought a 2022 Tesla Model 3 for 10,000 hryvnias, although the market value of such a car, according to “Slidstvo.Info”, on average ranged from $19,000 to $23,000.
In the declaration filed on January 26, 2026, a different vehicle is already recorded – a 2023 Tesla Model 3, which Denys Merzhuk purchased on May 20, 2025 for 820,000 hryvnias.
Speaking about the earlier story of the purchase for 10,000 hryvnias, Olga Yukhymchuk told journalists that the deal was concluded by her husband and she personally was not involved in the process. Also, at the end of 2025 she resigned from the position of Deputy Minister of Energy for European Integration at her own request. According to media reports, in 2025 Olga Yukhymchuk received over 660,000 hryvnias in salary from the Ministry of Energy, over 930,000 hryvnias from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, and over 10,000 hryvnias in social payments. Her husband, according to journalists, earned almost 6 million hryvnias from entrepreneurial activity, and nearly 250,000 hryvnias in salary from TOV “Kuznetsovskyi Bread Plant”.
Journalists also recalled that Olga Yukhymchuk joined the Ministry of Energy together with Svitlana Hrynchuk, whom the Verkhovna Rada dismissed from the post of Minister of Energy on November 19, 2025.
This story is so far not about a verdict or an official charge, but about declaration data and a journalistic investigation that again shed light on suspicious schemes with property among families of high-ranking officials. It is precisely such “profitable” purchases at the price of an old bicycle, followed by sales at nearly market value, that do the most damage to trust in the authorities of a country at war.
