15 fires: over 13 hectares destroyed by fire in Mykolaiv region in just one day

The region set a new anti-record for fires

During 24 March 2026 firefighters extinguished 15 fires in the Mykolaiv region, the State Emergency Service (DSNS) reported. The most worrying situation was again on open terrain: the day proved to be too “fiery”, and the burned area exceeded 13 ha. According to rescuers, this is so far the largest figure since the beginning of the year.

Some fires also occurred in the private sector. In Mykolaiv, an outbuilding with household items caught fire on the grounds of a private property. The fire affected an area of 20 sq.m, but rescuers managed to prevent the flames from spreading to a nearby summer kitchen.

In addition, reeds reeds burned in the “Lisky” park in Mykolaiv, dry grass on open terrain in the Pivichny neighborhood, and a fire occurred in an unused building, the city council added.

A utility structure with hay (with a burning area of 20 sq.m) was extinguished in the village of Kryve Ozero in Pervomaiskyi district. One ton of hay was destroyed.

Separately, rescuers responded to a vehicle fire. On a field road near the village of Novosilka of the Veselynivka community in Voznesenskyi district, a Toyota RAV4 caught fire. The largest problem of the day again were fires in ecosystems. Dry grass, reeds and rubbish burned 13 times within the Kostyantynivska, Chornomorska, Olshanska, Halytsynivska, Berezanska communities of Mykolaiv district; the Bereznehuvatska and Horokhivska communities of Bashtanka district; the Vradiivska and Kryvoozerska communities of Pervomaiskyi district; as well as in the cities of Nova Odesa and Mykolaiv.

The response involved 65 State Emergency Service personnel, 17 units of equipment, and local fire protection detachments “Oleksandrivka”, “Podillia” and “Halytsynove”.

The causes of all the fires are currently being determined.
