On the territory of Mykolaiv Oblast during the day of 20 March, units of the State Emergency Service extinguished 9 fires of various types in populated areas and in open locations.
The work carried out was reported by the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast.
Most incidents — 7 — occurred in open areas: reeds, shrubs, garbage and dry vegetation were burning. The total area of the fires exceeded 3 hectares. Incidents were recorded in Mykolaiv Raion and in Mykolaiv itself.
The quick and coordinated actions of the rescuers prevented the flames from spreading to larger areas and residential neighborhoods.
In addition, two more fires occurred in the private sector — in Mykolaiv and Pervomaiskyi raions. Outbuildings measuring 25 and 20 sq. m caught fire; firefighters pushed the fire away from 2 residential houses and a summer kitchen.
There are no casualties or injured; the causes of the fires are being determined by specialists.
Local fire teams “Peresadivka” and “Hurivka” were also involved in extinguishing the fires.
