Mykolaiv foil fencers won medals at international and all‑Ukrainian tournaments
Last week, athletes from Mykolaiv stood on the podium at competitions of various levels, confirming their high standard and consistency
Foil fencer from Mykolaiv Yelizar Dyrda won the bronze medal of the 2026 European circuit, competing on March 14 in the Czech city of Brno.
The city council reported the athlete’s result, emphasizing that Yelizar is a product of the Specialized Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve (SDYUSSHOR) for fencing, where his coach is Iryna Zykova. Meanwhile, on March 14–15 Mykolaiv foil fencers competed in Bila Tserkva at the All-Ukrainian Children’s League competitions in memory of V. Myronyuk and returned with 4 medals. Gold was won by Maria Kalachova and Maria Travyanska, silver was won by Nikita Korzhovoy, and bronze by Leola Khotuntsova. Thus the team finished with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.
The athletes’ tournament successes were supported by coaches Viktoriia Yurina, Viktoriia Korzhova and Hanna Kalachova, who prepared the athletes for competitions in different age categories.
