A nine-year-old schoolboy was involved in military training, and his family was threatened
Another 11 children have been brought back from the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region to territory controlled by Ukraine. The return was announced on October 19, 2026, by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
The group of rescued children includes 8 boys and 3 girls. The youngest child is 1 year old, and the oldest is 17. According to the regional head, the children faced pressure and threats from Russian occupiers, who also tried to force Russian propaganda on them.
Among those brought back is a 9-year-old boy who was involved in military training at an occupation-run school. When he drew a blue-and-yellow flag, FSB officers began threatening his family.
Another rescued child, 13-year-old Polina, survived an attack by a Russian combat drone near her home. After what happened, the girl was afraid even to go outside.
All the children who have returned are now safe and receiving the assistance they need, the head of the Regional Military Administration assured. Since the beginning of the year, a total of 230 children have been brought back from the temporarily occupied part of the region to territory controlled by Ukraine.
