13 children were returned from the temporarily occupied Kherson region
Among them was a 14-year-old boy who was forced to attend a Russian school because of his pro-Ukrainian stance
From the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region to the territory under Ukraine’s control, another 13 children were able to return — seven girls and six boys. Their ages range from 1.8 to 17 years.
This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
Among the rescued children is a 14-year-old boy. While in occupation, under the threat of being removed from his family, he was forced to attend a Russian school. Because of his pro‑Ukrainian stance, the teenager was also threatened with being registered by social services.
Currently all the children are safe and are undergoing reintegration in the centers “Hope and Recovery”. There they receive psychological support, safe shelter, and assistance with restoring documents.
The return was organized with the assistance of the charitable organization Save Ukraine as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
Altogether since the beginning of 2026, 170 children have returned from occupied Kherson region. In addition, in August 2026 the Save Ukraine team returned 16 children from the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson region.
