During October 17 and the night of October 18, 8 fires broke out in Mykolaiv Oblast. A woman suffered burns in a house fire in Petrivka, Mykolaiv district.

According to the daily report from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the fires were distributed as follows:

  • 5 fires — in open areas, mostly involving dry grass and rubbish;
  • 3 fires — in residential areas.

The house in Petrivka caught fire in the evening. According to preliminary information, the residents had placed electronic fishing equipment on a bed and left it charging, plugged into the power supply via an extension cord. The battery-powered device sparked while charging, setting the blanket on fire.

The residents noticed the fire and tried to put it out with water. However, the electrical appliance was still connected to the power supply, making this attempt particularly dangerous. Meanwhile, the flames spread through the household textiles.

Firefighters who responded to the call extinguished the fire, which had spread over an area of 20 sq. m. A woman born in 1974 suffered burns to her shoulders and back. Emergency medical service workers provided assistance to the injured woman.
