Municipal workers’ salaries are being delayed — Lviv’s mayor has given up his own salary
Sadovyi proposed that government officials and MPs also give up their salaries
The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, has decided not to receive his salary because payments to employees of the city’s municipal enterprises are being delayed. According to facebook.com.
The delays are due to the State Treasury Service of Ukraine suspending payments for transport services and sanitation. In total, the amount of unpaid bills in Lviv exceeds 500 million hryvnias.
As a result, the following may be left without pay:
- street cleaners;
- electric transport drivers.
The mayor believes it is unethical to receive a salary while municipal workers’ pay is delayed. He also suggested that government officials and members of parliament give up their salaries to show solidarity with the workers.
