Dogs and cats from the municipal enterprise of the Mykolaiv City Council “Center for Animal Protection” will be looking for new owners at an exhibition in Mykolaiv. It will take place on Sunday, October 11 in Kashtanovyi Square and will run from 10:00 to 14:00. Visitors will be able to meet the animals that are currently at the Center and need a family.

All dogs and cats presented at the exhibition are sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, and treated for parasites.

For those who decide to take an animal in, a passport and identification code are required. Electronic documents in the Diia app can also be used.

The organizers also invite people who are not yet ready to take a dog or cat home:

“You will find cute dogs and cats waiting for you, dreaming of finding a caring family and a home. And if you are not yet ready to shelter an animal — just come to meet them or share this post. Maybe, thanks to you, one of our furry friends will find a family.”

In addition to rehoming animals, “Center for Animal Protection” is conducting an anonymous survey on rules for keeping pets in Mykolaiv. The enterprise wants to hear from both pet owners and city residents who do not have them.

The survey addresses the following issues:

  • the situation with dog-walking areas;
  • incidents of aggression by domestic dogs;
  • the burial of animals in parks, squares, and residential areas;
  • mandatory registration and microchipping of domestic dogs and cats.

In the first half of 2026 the municipal enterprise captured 1,211 stray animals. Of these:

  • 963 have already been sterilized;
  • 967 were vaccinated against rabies;
  • 84 found new owners.
