Five fires in 24 hours in Mykolaiv Oblast: two residential houses saved from the flames

On October 3 in the Mykolaiv region there were five fires, including two in the private sector. All blazes were extinguished, and two residential houses were saved from destruction by fire.

In the village of Liubine in Bashtanka district and in Mykolaiv, firefighters extinguished fires of firewood and of an unused residential building. The areas of these fires were minor. It was during these calls that rescuers protected two residential houses from fire.

Another fire in Mykolaiv engulfed a two‑storey building that was not in use. The fire covered an area of 450 sq. m. Its extinguishing involved seven special vehicles, a water tanker and 23 rescuers.

Due to dense smoke, firefighters worked in apparatuses for eye and respiratory protection. There were no casualties or injuries in this fire.

Two more fires occurred in open areas: dry grass and crop residues burned. The State Emergency Service (DSNS) report noted that all fires were extinguished over a total area of more than 2.5 ha. Firefighters from the local fire protection unit “Martynivske” also joined the suppression efforts.
