Drinking water doesn't always reach the taps: Reshetilov prepares to clean Mykolaiv's water networks
During the work, they recommend not drinking the water for about three months
In Mykolaiv, plans are underway to clean the water supply system so that drinking-quality water is delivered not only from the treatment facilities but also directly to consumers. During these works residents are advised not to use tap water for drinking and food preparation.
The issue of the city’s drinking water supply was considered separately at a meeting of the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies. Representatives of the relevant services explained that after the treatment facilities the water meets drinking quality, but it does not reach end consumers with that quality in all cases.
To solve this problem, a plan to clean the system was defined. Measures envisaged include chlorination and hyperchlorination of the water mains. The expected duration of the work is approximately three months; the recommendation to limit water use applies specifically to the cleaning period.
Following the meeting, Hryhoriy Reshetilov urged the city authorities to organize a broad public information campaign in advance. Residents should be notified about the start of the system cleaning and the restrictions on water use.
After completion of the works, they plan to ensure the supply of quality water directly to consumers.
