In Mykolaiv, alcohol and tobacco worth almost 327 thousand hryvnias were seized from illegal circulation

In retail outlets in Mykolaiv, tax officials together with law enforcement officers uncovered the illegal sale of alcohol and tobacco products. Products with a total value of almost 327 thousand hryvnias were seized from illegal circulation. The results of the inspections were reported by the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Mykolaiv Oblast.

On-site inspections of stores and other retail outlets where these goods were sold were carried out by specialists from the department for control of excise goods. They found violations of tax legislation. Based on their results, financial penalties totaling almost 128 thousand hryvnias are planned to be applied to the business entities.

During the inspections, the tax officers involved the investigative-operational group of the Main Department of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast. Law enforcement took measures to stop the illegal activities and seized excise goods:

• alcoholic beverages worth 324.6 thousand hryvnias;
• tobacco products worth 2.1 thousand hryvnias.

The tax office reminded that for certain violations of the law a fine in the amount of three minimum wages established as of January 1 of the respective reporting year is provided. This amounts to 25.9 thousand hryvnias.

Violations can be reported to the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Mykolaiv Oblast by phone (0512) 50-18-61. Reports may concern:

• trade without a license;
• violations during the sale of excise goods;
• failure to issue receipts;
• operating without state registration;
• use of undeclared workers.

The tax service also emphasized that control is carried out based on a risk-oriented approach and taking into account current restrictions on unreasonable inspections of businesses.
