Robots equipped with two grenade launchers attacked Russian positions and exploded in shelters
Operators controlled the platforms remotely, without putting infantry at risk
During an offensive operation by the Third Army Corps of Ukraine, fighters from the strike ground robotic complexes unit NC13 employed a new tactic using modernized ground drones.
The robots were equipped with two Bullspike grenade launchers. The platforms attacked Russian forces’ positions and then detonated directly next to or inside the shelters.
The Ukrainian side claims that initially Russian troops may have perceived the attack by the robotic complexes as actions of a full assault group. The unit explained that this tactic allows ground robots to be used simultaneously for fire engagement, psychological pressure, and clearing positions.
Operators remotely controlled the platforms from a protected shelter located a significant distance from the line of combat. According to the Ukrainian military, this reduces risks for infantry, since the most dangerous tasks on the front line are carried out by the robotic complexes.
In NC13 they called the use of ground robots with grenade launchers a new tactic for modern warfare. The military also published a video of the operators’ work and the use of the complexes during Operation “Vivaldi”.
