"Thank you for protecting us" will travel the city: children's drawings will appear on Mykolaiv buses
Draw — and the whole city will see your work: a children's contest has been announced in Mykolaiv
In Mykolaiv a children’s drawing contest was announced “Thank you for protecting us“. Children are invited to express gratitude to Ukrainian servicemen and servicewomen through creativity, and the best works will be turned into large posters and placed on city buses of the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans”. The municipal enterprise announced the contest conditions, and the information was also shared by the Mykolaiv City Council.
Children aged from 6 to 16 are invited to participate. The drawing must be dedicated to Ukrainian defenders and convey words of gratitude, support, and faith. The work should be made on a sheet of A4 or A3 in landscape orientation. Organizers advise keeping details clear and not applying paint or pencils too densely — this is important for subsequent digitization of the drawings.
Where to bring the drawings?
Completed works can be handed in personally to the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans” at: Mykolaiv, Prospekt Myru, 17g. They are accepted from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. You can also give the drawing directly to the driver of a municipal bus. Works are accepted on routes No.1, No.49, No.91, No.81 and No.79. Some of these routes serve directions important for residents of the Korabelnyi District, including Balabanivka and Shyroka Balka. On the back of the work you must write the child’s first and last name, and also leave a contact phone number.
Until what date can you participate?
Contest entries are accepted from August 25 to September 14, 2026. So children and parents have a little more than two weeks to prepare and submit a drawing. After the contest ends, the best works will be digitized and turned into large posters. They will decorate the buses of “Mykolaivpastrans”, so passengers in different districts of Mykolaiv will be able to see the children’s drawings thanking the military.
The authors of the winning works will also receive sweet gifts. In addition, a themed tour will be organized for them in the historic building of the Mykolaiv Regional Local History Museum. For the municipal enterprise “Mykolaivpastrans” this is not the first contest in which children’s creativity is connected with city buses. In 2024 and 2025 the enterprise held drawing contests for St. Nicholas Day, and works could also be handed in through municipal transport drivers.
