Alcohol, jealousy and an assault rifle: a serviceman is suspected of a double murder

In the Kyiv region a serviceman was notified of suspicion after a deadly shooting in the Fastiv district, in which a woman and a serviceman were killed and another man sustained gunshot wounds. This was reported on 4 June 2026 by the Kyiv Regional Police.

The tragedy occurred on the evening of 2 June. A serviceman contacted the police and reported that during duty one of his colleagues opened fire on their comrades. Police officers from the capital region immediately arrived at the scene. Inside the premises, law enforcement found the bodies of a serviceman and a woman. Another man with gunshot wounds was hospitalized.

According to the investigation, the suspect was on duty in a state of alcohol intoxication. The police report that out of jealousy he shot twice at the 53-year-old victim with an automatic rifle. After that, according to law enforcement, the man went to an adjacent room where he shot dead a woman and another serviceman, and then fled.

The entire staff of the district department and the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Region were involved in the search for the suspect. The man was found and detained. Investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Bilotserkva Specialized Defense Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region, notified the serviceman of suspicion on charges of consummated attempted murder and the intentional killing of two persons. The charges concern Part 2 of Article 15, Part 1 of Article 115 and paragraph 1 of Part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.

The police phrase that “no conflict is worth a human life” sounds especially bitter in this case. Because this is not a domestic quarrel without consequences, but a shooting with a weapon during duty, two dead and one more wounded.
