Caused a collision with a moped while intoxicated
The moped rider is in a medical facility under the supervision of doctors
A road traffic accident in the village of Kalynivka occurred today, 19 August, at about 18:10. While driving a VAZ-2107, a 60-year-old man collided with a Suzuki moped driven by a 59-year-old rider. As a result of the incident the moped rider sustained bodily injuries. He is currently in a medical facility under doctors’ supervision.
Police established that the VAZ driver showed signs of intoxication. According to the results of a medical examination at a medical facility, he had 2.97 per mille of alcohol.
Investigators classified the incident as a criminal offense, provisionally under Part 1 of Art. 286–1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, “Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons operating vehicles while intoxicated.” The article’s penalty provides for up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to five years.
The 60-year-old car driver was detained by investigators pursuant to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and authorities are currently clarifying all circumstances of the road traffic accident.
