A naked man climbed into a fountain and exposed his genitals in Mykolaiv
The police have identified the 41-year-old local resident
August 17 in Mykolaiv a man climbed naked into a fountain on Soborna Street and displayed his genitals. Law enforcement authorities regarded this incident as a gross violation of public order.
Police discovered a post about the incident while monitoring the internet. The information was entered in the single registration log and a check was initiated.
The man’s identity and whereabouts were established during initial investigative and operational-search activities. In particular, specialists from the Criminal Analysis Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Police helped with this by processing recordings from surveillance cameras connected to the “Safe City” system.
This concerns a 41-year-old local resident. Previously he had come to the attention of law enforcement for property crimes and a crime against a person that had fatal consequences. After court proceedings, compulsory medical measures were applied to the man.
Investigators opened a pre-trial investigation under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism. The police noted that this concerns a gross violation of public order motivated by obvious disrespect for society, accompanied by particular insolence or exceptional cynicism.
The article’s sanction provides for up to 5 years of restriction of liberty. Currently, law enforcement has ordered the necessary expert examinations, in particular to determine the man’s mental state and sanity.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
