Grenade in the electrical switchboard room of a multi-storey building in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv
Residents of the building were evacuated; the explosive device was removed
11 August at about 10:20 the emergency line 102 received a report of an object resembling a hand grenade found in the inter-floor electrical panel of one of Mykolaiv‘s residential buildings.
The dangerous find in the apartment building was reported by an employee of the power supply company who was to replace a meter.
Police officers of the investigative-operational group of Police Station No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department and specialists from the regional police explosive ordnance disposal unit arrived at the scene. Law enforcement evacuated the building’s residents and cordoned off the danger zone.
Explosive technicians inspected the object and determined that it was a grenade that posed a danger to people. Police seized the ordnance and are currently establishing its origin and the person who left the explosive device.
The police remind: if you find suspicious objects, do not touch, move, inspect, or try to neutralize them yourself. Move to a safe distance and report the find by calling 102.
