In Mykolaiv Oblast, a starosta will be tried for the fatal shooting of a female subordinate
A woman died from head injuries at the scene
The starosta of one of the villages in Bashtanskyi District, in the starosta’s office, fired several shots from a hunting shotgun at his subordinate. The woman died on the spot from the sustained gunshot wounds. Based on the evidence collected, law enforcement officers have now sent an indictment to the court. For the committed crime the man faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.
Recall, the incident occurred on March 17 in the village of Plyushchivka. The perpetrator himself reported the murder to the emergency line 102.
During the inspection of the premises, law enforcement officers found in the official office behind the desk the body of a 51-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to the head. Police also seized the instrument of the crime – the shotgun and shells – from the scene.
On the same day, police investigators detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and, under the procedural guidance of the Bashtanskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – «Intentional murder».
At that time, by court ruling the suspect was ordered to be held in custody without alternatives.
Investigators have now completed the pre-trial investigation, and prosecutors have approved and sent the indictment to the court for substantive consideration. According to the sanctions of the charged articles, the suspect faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.
The suspect’s further fate will be decided by the court.
