In Mykolaiv, a crossover caught fire after a collision between a Tesla and a Hyundai
Two injured people were transported to the hospital near Kulbakino
23 July at around 22:30 near the Kulbakine microdistrict in the Mykolaiv region, a traffic accident occurred involving a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Tesla Model S.
According to the Mykolaiv Oblast Police, the Hyundai Santa Fe crossover was driven by a 30-year-old man, while the Tesla Model S was driven by a 39-year-old man.
As a result of the collision, the Hyundai caught fire. Rescuers extinguished the blaze.
The crossover’s driver and his 51-year-old passenger, with bodily injuries of varying severity, were taken to a medical facility.
The Tesla driver was not injured in the accident.
Investigators of the department for the investigation of transport-related crimes of the regional investigative unit of the police have opened a criminal proceeding, provisionally qualified under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles.
The article’s penalty provides for up to three years of restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all circumstances and causes of the crash. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Witnesses or anyone with information about the accident are asked to call 063-785-04-20 or 102.
