He beat a woman on the head and face — will pay 850 UAH: verdict for a serviceman in Mykolaiv
Can such a punishment stop the aggressor?
The Korabelnyi District Court of the city of Mykolaiv found Vadym K. guilty; at the time of the offense he was serving in the military as the commander of the 2nd mechanized platoon of the 9th mechanized company of the 3rd mechanized battalion of one of the military units and held the military rank “captain”. For beating the woman the court imposed a fine of 850 hryvnias.
The verdict in the case No. 488/2886/26 was issued by the Korabelnyi District Court on 8 June 2026. The criminal proceeding No. 12025153050000153 was registered in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations on 21 November 2025.
According to the case materials, on the evening of 20 November 2025, at approximately 20:20, Vadym K. was at the victim’s place of residence. During the conflict he formed the intent to inflict bodily harm on the woman.
The court established that the serviceman dealt the victim at least 4 blows with both fists to the head and face.
The woman was diagnosed with contusion of the soft tissues of the right postauricular and right zygomatic areas, abrasions on the face, and a hemorrhage of the mucous membrane of the upper lip. Experts concluded that these injuries belong to the category of minor bodily injuries.
The defendant’s actions were qualified under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional minor bodily injury.
The case was considered in a simplified procedure without holding a court hearing and without the participation of the parties. Vadym K. confirmed in writing that he fully admits his guilt, does not dispute the circumstances established during the inquiry, and agrees to the consideration of the indictment in his absence.
When imposing the sentence the court took into account that the defendant had no prior convictions, sincerely repented, was a serviceman at the time of the offense and had an average service record. The victim reported that she has no material claims against him.
No civil claim was filed within the proceeding, and there were no procedural costs.
As a result, Vadym K. was found guilty and fined 50 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, which amounts to 850 hryvnias.
No preventive measure was chosen for the defendant. The court ordered that the discs with the case materials remain in the criminal proceeding.
Thus, the punishment for at least 4 blows with fists to the woman’s head and face was a fine of 850 hryvnias.
