In Mykolaiv, a serviceman remained in custody in the СЗЧ over an attempted bribe of a VSP major

The Central District Court of Mykolaiv extended the detention period for a 32-year-old local resident who is suspected of offering and giving an unlawful benefit to a serviceman of the Military Law Enforcement Service.

On July 13, 2026, the court’s press service reported this.

According to the motion materials, in August 2025 the man, who had previously been repeatedly held criminally liable, was conditionally released early from a correctional colony to serve under a military contract. A few months later he left the unit without authorization.

After his detention, the man was taken to the Mykolaiv zonal division of the VSP. According to the investigation, there he repeatedly offered the head of the department $5,000 so that he would not be registered as a person who had left the unit without authorization and that the search would be stopped. The suspect allegedly stated that he would not serve anyway.

The VSP major refused the money and contacted law enforcement. Two days later the suspect handed him part of the agreed sum — 14,700 hryvnias — after which the man was detained.

In court, the prosecutor supported the motion. The suspect and his defender did not object to its granting.

The investigating judge extended the detention period with the possibility of posting 665,600 hryvnias bail. The man is suspected under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
