Ukraine in half a year: 327 organ transplants and 280 bone marrow transplants — almost 30% more than last year

In the first half of 2026, 327 organ transplants were performed at 21 medical institutions in Ukraine, Health Minister Viktor Liashko reported.

“Every tenth transplant was performed on a child. There were 184 kidney transplants, 88 liver transplants, and 55 heart transplants,” said Health Minister V. Liashko in his post on Facebook.

The highest volume of operations over the half-year was recorded at the First Medical Association of Lviv, the Kyiv Medical Center, the Shalimov National Scientific Center of Surgery and Transplantology, the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and the Oberig clinic.

In addition to organ transplants, 280 bone marrow transplants were performed, which is almost 30% higher than the figure for the same period last year.

The most complex hematopoietic stem cell transplants from unrelated donors are performed by PDSL “Okhmatdyt”, the Cherkasy Clinical Oncological Center, and the Kyiv Medical Center; over the half-year these institutions performed 50 such operations.
