A woman was robbed in Mykolaiv at night: within an hour the attacker was found at a gas station with coffee

In Mykolaiv, law enforcement officers quickly detained a man suspected of a street robbery. This was reported on 3 July 2026 by the Mykolaiv Oblast Police.

According to the investigation, a report of the crime was received on the emergency line 102 after midnight on 1 July. A 59-year-old woman said she was returning home from work when an unknown man approached her on Andriy Pokrovsky Street near an apartment building. The attacker hit her in the face and openly took a bag that contained a mobile phone and 1,700 hryvnias.

Patrol officers, an investigative team and operatives from the Police Station No. 1 of the Mykolaiv District Department were dispatched to the scene. The victim provided a description of the attacker, and within an hour the police established his whereabouts. The suspect turned out to be a 41-year-old Mykolaiv resident who, according to the police, had previously been held accountable for a similar crime. After the robbery he went for coffee at a gas station nearby, where law enforcement officers found him.

The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the district prosecutor’s office of the city of Mykolaiv he was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukrainerobbery committed under martial law. The article’s penalty provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment. Currently, law enforcement officers are checking whether the suspect is involved in other crimes. The court is expected to choose a preventive measure for him in the near future.
