Almost every day — a new case: statistics on HIV/AIDS in the Mykolaiv region were published
New cases of HIV, AIDS, and deaths were recorded in the region in June
Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Ukraine July 3 2026 published statistics on HIV/AIDS in Mykolaiv region for June 2026. According to the institution, the region registered 28 new cases of HIV infection, 12 patients were newly diagnosed with AIDS, and 5 fatal cases from an AIDS-related disease were also recorded.
Among the routes of transmission in newly detected cases the sexual route predominates — 24 cases. Another 4 cases were attributed by medics to the parenteral route, and vertical transmission was not recorded in June.
Experts remind that AIDS is the final, most severe stage of HIV infection, when the human immune system is critically exhausted. At the same time HIV may not show pronounced symptoms for a long time, so a person may not know their status for years.
The prevention center emphasizes that the most effective ways to prevent disease progression remain timely testing, safe behavior, condom use, refraining from sharing syringes and needles, as well as early medical consultation and the start of treatment. Medical professionals also stress: today HIV is not a sentence, because thanks to modern therapy people with such a diagnosis can live a full life.
