Worked for the occupiers in Kherson: suspect taken into custody in Mykolaiv
Voluntarily headed a department in the illegal "ministry"
The Central District Court of Mykolaiv has chosen a preventive measure for a 45-year-old resident of Kherson suspected of collaborationist activities. The man was remanded in custody without the right to post bail.
This was reported by the court’s press service.
According to the investigation, during the temporary occupation of Kherson the man voluntarily agreed to take the position of department head in the illegally created so-called “Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Kherson Oblast”.
Law enforcement believes that in this position he performed organizational and administrative functions and facilitated the work of the Russian occupation administration.
During the hearing the prosecutor asked to impose the harshest preventive measure on the suspect — detention without the possibility of posting bail.
The man himself pleaded guilty. He and his defense attorney asked the court to set the minimum amount of bail.
Having examined the case materials, the investigating judge found the suspicion to be justified. The court also took into account the risks that the man may hide from investigators, destroy evidence, influence witnesses, or otherwise obstruct the investigation.
As a result, the suspect was placed in custody with no right to post bail.
He is accused of collaborationist activity under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court will ultimately determine the man’s guilt.
