A man lured and raped girls aged 12 and 14 via Telegram

In the Kirovohrad region, law enforcement detained a 29-year-old man suspected of contacting minors through a Telegram channel and subsequently committing sexual violence against them.

The Office of the Prosecutor General reported that during messaging the suspect presented himself as a peer or as a young man slightly older than his female interlocutors, after which he arranged to meet them in person.

“After the messaging, he arranged personal meetings with the minors. It was during these meetings, according to law enforcement, that the suspect committed acts of sexual violence against the children,” the Office of the Prosecutor General said.

Investigators have so far identified two female victims: one was 14 years old at the time of the acquaintance, the other — 12.

In addition, the man is accused of offenses related to the production and possession of child pornography.

The suspect’s actions have been qualified under part 1 of Article 155, part 4 of Article 152, part 1 of Article 301-1, part 3 of Article 301-1, and part 4 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The court ordered pretrial detention without the right to post bail.
